I asked Ron, the owner of The Twisted Skein local yarn shop in Bakersfield, CA, to give us a brief tutorial on color-changing yarn. He showed us a few samples from his store and talked about how to know whether the color changes would produce a multi-colored fabric, perhaps with some pooling, or a striped fabric, or a gradual fade across the garment.
The yarns he showed us were:
