Patty Wiens - Winnipeg’s First Bicycle Mayor | How to change the tires on a Mid Drive, Carbon Belt E-Bike @pattyrollingfree | Uploaded October 2023 | Updated October 2024, 1 hour ago.
I changed my Mid-Drive, Carbon Belt e-bike tires this week and it was way easier than I thought. I decided to make a video about it when we changed Ian’s bike tires because there isn’t a lot of information out there on how to do it yourself.
This will be useful if you get a flat tire or if you want to switch over between your regular tires and your winter or studded ones.
Our e-bikes are TuffHill e-bikes, designed in Calgary, Canada, and built to be used year-round, even in harsh winters. Check them out here: tuffhillebikes.com/shop
Tools needed: Tire lever, 16mm wrench, and a tire pump.
Tires: Schwalbe Ice Spiker Pro 27.5 x2.25 - you can also buy them from here in Canada: tuffhillebikes.com/product-page/schwalbe-ice-spiker-pro-27-5-x2-25 or your local bike shop.
I used a yoga pillow to prop up the front of the bike, but you can use any pillow or blocks or just a blanket on the floor so that you don’t scratch up your controls.
I made a little mistake when I reconnected all the cables, but I’ll talk about it in the video and explain to you what I did wrong so that you don’t do the same.
We love our TuffHill e-bikes and highly recommend them, especially if you live in Canada. Our video review of the bikes is here: youtu.be/u0bSTy8z29E
I also made a video talking about how I get dressed to handle riding my bike in winter and I have a link to all the products I use here: youtu.be/Mz8fTE1PqVM
I was a guest on BikeTalk podcast and talked about Critical Mass and how we need to claim our space on the roads. You can listen to it here: on.soundcloud.com/XYXa9

The outdoor parts of this video were shot on my Insta 360 x3 and if you’d like to get one, I highly recommend it, especially for cold weather as the battery lasts over an hour in -30C and the image quality is perfect for capturing those pesky license plates!
