How do you change lawn mower oil the RIGHT way—and is a double drain actually worth it? In this video, I show how to change oil on a Briggs & Stratton 163cc lawn mower engine while testing my “double drain” method to see if a second drain really gets more dirty oil out.
This is another episode in my “Making My Mower Not Suck” playlist, where I bring a used $125 Toro Super Recycler (Toro 21386) back to life step-by-step. This mower was seriously overfilled on oil, so I walk through the full oil change process, proper oil level, fuel draining tips, and why these Briggs & Stratton engines can make oil changes more frustrating than they should be. I also explain why I like doing a double drain oil change on used lawn mowers and show exactly what comes out on the second drain.
