How to Change Display Resolution Using Regedit (1080p to 4K)

In this tutorial, I’ll show you how to change display resolution using Regedit (Registry Editor) in Windows 10/11. This method lets you force hidden resolutions like 1080p to 4K (3840 × 2160) or create a custom screen resolution directly through the registry.

⚠️ Warning: editing the registry can cause problems if done incorrectly. Follow the steps carefully and always back up your settings first.

🟢 In this video you’ll learn:
How to open and navigate the Windows Registry Editor (Regedit)
Where to find your monitor configuration keys
How to edit PrimSurfSize and ActiveSize values
How to switch from Hexadecimal to Decimal for correct resolution input
How to force resolutions like 2K (2560×1440) or 4K (3840×2160)
Fixing display resolution issues in Windows 10/11

This trick works on most monitors and GPUs, but only if your hardware actually supports the resolution. If your monitor doesn’t support 4K, Windows may fall back to a lower resolution.
