Learn how to capture RAW photos on the Samsung Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26 Plus, and Galaxy S26 Ultra camera using Pro mode.

RAW photography is useful when you want greater flexibility during post-processing. Unlike a JPEG, a RAW file retains more of the original image data captured by the camera, giving you more control over exposure, highlights, shadows, white balance, and color during editing.

To capture RAW photos, open the Camera app and switch to Pro mode. Open Camera Settings, select Photo format, and look for Pro mode picture format. Select RAW when available. You can also choose RAW and JPEG if you want to save both an editable RAW file and a shareable JPEG version of the same photo.

After changing the setting, return to Pro mode and take a test photo. Open Gallery or your file manager to verify that the RAW file has been saved. RAW files are commonly stored in DNG format and require a compatible application for viewing and editing.

RAW photography is particularly useful for landscapes, portraits, night scenes, difficult lighting conditions, and photographs that you plan to edit extensively. It gives you more flexibility than a processed JPEG, but RAW files are usually much larger and require additional storage.

If you only need photos for quick sharing on social media, messaging apps, or websites, JPEG may be more convenient. You can also select RAW and JPEG together when you want both editing flexibility and easy sharing.

Keep sufficient storage available and back up important RAW photographs regularly. Use compatible editing software when processing RAW files, and avoid deleting the original RAW file until you are satisfied with the edited version.

The exact menu names and available options may vary depending on your Galaxy S26 series software version, camera mode, and device configuration. Some RAW-related features may also differ between Pro mode and Expert RAW.
