In this first video of a four‑part series, I build a cinematic, evolving sound on the Korg Multi/Poly completely from scratch. The goal is to create a swelling pad with movement, warmth, and a layer of digital shimmer—perfect for intros, ambient scoring, or atmospheric tracks.
Free sound included!

I walk through the full thought process behind the patch: choosing filters, shaping envelopes, adding LFO movement, layering oscillators, experimenting with wavefolding and wavetables, and finishing with effects like compression, chorus, delay, and reverb.

Each synth in this series—Multi/Poly, Opsix, Modwave, and Wavestate—approaches cinematic sound design differently. This episode focuses on the Multi/Poly’s four oscillators, dual filters, and flexible routing to build a rich, evolving texture.

What’s covered
Starting from a blank patch
Using SEM, MS‑20, and other filter types
Long‑sweep filter envelopes for cinematic movement
Adding PWM and detuned saw layers
Creating a tinkly additive/wavefolded texture
Introducing digital wavetable motion
Stereo panning and parallel filter routing
Final effects: compression, chorus, delay, reverb
