(Godfrey fight starts at 20:50) This guide will show you how to beat Godfrey and Hoarah Loux easily. I'll show you my build, how to get all the items for the build, and then walk you through the fight.
This run was done at RL60 with +18 weapons, on NG+2. The recommended level for this fight is RL125+25.
ADDITIONAL NOTES:
-Make sure you have AT LEAST 40 VIGOR. VIGOR IS YOUR MOST IMPORTANT STAT, NO MATTER WHAT BUILD YOU ARE RUNNING. MORE VIGOR = LESS DIE. VIGOR.
---40 is the MINIMUM you should have, 60 is better. There's not really any point in going above 60 because of the softcap.
-Midway through the Godfrey fight there's a segment at 36:19 where I switch to the Winged Crystal Tear. In the Preparation section I used the Greenburst Crystal Tear, but honestly I think you're probably better off with the Winged tear. It gives you light rolls for 3 minutes and light rolls are really helpful. You just better make sure you beat the fight before it wears off or you're gonna suddenly be medium rolling and that can be confusing.
-I used a level 60 character with a +18 Antspur Rapier. I do this because I want to demonstrate that even when using an underleveled character, with an under-upgraded weapon, this build is still strong enough to be able to beat this fight pretty easily. I'm also on NG+2 so Godfrey has more health and poise health. If you are on your first playthrough, and especially if you have the recommended level and weapon upgrade (level 100-125, with +25 weapons), you should find this fight pretty easy.
-Honestly I don't really like using the Antspur all that much. It's too easy. It's really fast, it does Pierce damage which is probably the best damage type overall, and the Scarlet Rot buildup PLUS whatever other status effects you want make it kinda nuts. I used it for this guide because Godfrey is a pretty intensive fight to learn, and I think that using this easier option is a great way to master the skill of dodging his attacks and exploiting his punish windows. This is a great foundation to be able to learn how to master the rest of the game, including bosses like Radagon and Malenia, and I think that a fight like this would have been really good to have at an earlier point in the game (there is Goldfrey before Morgott but that's still like halfway through the game).
My point is, if you use this build to beat Godfrey, then that's great! But I also recommend you take the time to come back to this fight in NG+ or on a new character and beat him with a different weapon. This is a great build to learn how to dodge his attacks, but there's a lot of fun to be had in mastering this fight and beating him with, say, a dagger or a straight sword or something. Of course, what YOU find fun is up to YOU, but hey, maybe try it out is all I'm saying. :)
