It begins with Squirrelflight supposedly believing she is in love with Ashfur. However, as she continues to “fall in love” with him, she begins to realize she may not like him so much but plays along, confused by her feelings till she tells him she doesn’t like him back and continues on with her life, not letting his constant begging ruin her life. Then, she meets Brambleclaw and falls in love. They become mates. However, she starts to notice his toxic tendencies and confronts him about it. She doesn’t let him control her–she has her own will–such as helping the sisters and letting herself become friends with other she-cats such as Jessy, Tawnypelt, and Moonlight.
With the more somber tempo part of the song, she sadly reflects on how she got treated, but then slowly, she realizes that she has Tawnypelt, Jessy, Moonlight, etc., and they help boost her confidence. As the song beats up she breaks up with Bramblestar and forms friendships with the cats who care, showing the shecats independence!!
