He explains how neo-fascist populists exploit digital affordances and utilise strategies such as a "politics of provocation" and "flooding the zone" to normalise extremist ideologies while simultaneously marginalising opposing views under labels such as "woke."
Highlighting the potential threats to democratic values such as liberty and equality, Prof Cammaerts argues for the importance of establishing a hard boundary between democratic forces and those seeking to undermine democracy and for holding big tech companies democratically accountable.
