How to set up a small bait hive in a tree to attract a swarm. Maddy and Tim Harland from Permaculture Magazine explain how to 'bait' the hive to mimic Queen pheromones, film the scout bees arriving the day before and then the full swarm entering the hive the next day.
Bees return to the same locations year after year and it is easy to catch swarms and then carefully house them in hives. All of the bees in the apiary shown here are either from a split or swarms of local bees. Filmed in the Harland's permaculture garden.
