The easiest and most effective way to add a custom thumbnail on a Samsung phone is using the YouTube Studio app, which lets you upload and apply your own images directly from your device.

Step 1 — Install and Open YouTube Studio
Download YouTube Studio from the Google Play Store if you haven't installed it yet

Open the app and sign in to your YouTube account.

Step 2 — Access Your Videos
Tap on Content from the bottom menu to see a list of all your uploaded videos

Select the video you want to edit.

Step 3 — Edit and Add a Thumbnail
Tap the Edit icon (pencil icon) on the selected video

Scroll down to the Thumbnail section and tap Custom thumbnail. This opens your phone's gallery.

Choose a photo from your camera roll, or take a new picture for your thumbnail

Crop the image to fit YouTube's recommended resolution: 1280x720 pixels with a 16:9 aspect ratio

Tap Select to confirm your thumbnail choice.

Step 4 — Save Your Changes
Tap Save in the top-right corner to apply your new thumbnail to the video

Changes may take a few minutes to appear publicly on YouTube.
