The most effective method to add and remove Google accounts on Android is to remove the existing account first, then add your preferred account as the default before adding any secondary accounts.
Adding a Google Account
Open Settings: Swipe down from the top of the screen and tap the gear icon to open your phone's Settings app
Navigate to Accounts: Scroll and select Accounts or Passwords & accounts depending on your device
Add an Account: Tap Add account, then select Google if adding a Google account.
Sign In: Enter your Google account email and password, then follow any on-screen instructions. If you have two-factor authentication, complete the verification step
Sync Data: Once added, your Gmail, contacts, calendar, and other Google data will automatically sync with your device
