I explored the Black Wood Ear fungus under the microscope, a common ingredient in Chinese cuisine. Its hyphae are aseptate, multinucleated and continuous, challenging the traditional cell theory. Using methylene blue, I compared its structure to septate fungi and uncovered how it transports nutrients.
