Determined to solve the mystery for good, users on the Virtual Carbon Discord quickly got to work.
They first began by reverse image searching, which led to a total dead end. But then, one user realized that the picture was uploaded on 4Chan way back in 2011. By using the original file name, they tracked down a Twitter post linking to an obscure blog, which had the original photos.
