Scientists from the Austrian Space Forum are on a Mars mission in the Omani desert. A small field crew conducts experiments and simulates the survival of astronauts in this extreme environment. The desert in South Oman has many similarities to the surface of Mars and scientists hope their research will help to prepare a future human mission to the red planet.
