An investigation by Bellingcat has identified yet another Russian-flagged bulk carrier, exporting grain from occupied Crimea to Libya. This adds Libya to the list of countries willing to accept what the Ukrainian government describes as “stolen” grain.
Bellingcat confirmed that the ship visited the port of Feodosia on the Crimean peninsula. The region is known for GNSS interference, meaning that its publicly reported Automated Identification System (AIS) position is unreliable.
The Libyan Embassy in The Netherlands replied to Bellingcat after publication, stating that Benghazi and eastern Libya are not under the authority or administrative control of the Government of National Unity and therefore they are not currently in a position to comment on Bellingcat’s findings.
