I went to twelve schools on four continents before I was twelve. None of that was within my control. But my colored pencils were. Whites, yellows, oranges, reds — all the way to black. Perfect. I've spent my whole life building order around me, and it turns out that's not a quirk. It's the scaffold my imagination needs to do its real work.
