Dr Larry Chapp argues that beneath much of the rhetoric surrounding progressive Catholic reform lie two fundamental objectives: women's ordination and the abandonment of traditional Catholic sexual morality.
But then he makes a provocative prediction.
Suppose the reformers actually got everything they wanted: women priests and bishops, acceptance of same-sex marriage, contraception and cohabitation.
Would the Church finally become the great home of dialogue, inclusion and *parrhesia* we've been promised?
Larry thinks precisely the opposite would happen.
He insists these changes will never actually occur — but argues that if the progressive programme ever triumphed, the celebrated openness to disagreement would rapidly disappear.
