In this one I want to talk about open tunings and my experience using them.
What I mean by open tunings is when you strum all the open strings on guitar then it plays a chord.
The first I heard of open tunings was from blues guitar players when they played slide guitar, so a lot of open tunings in D and G.
It's such an amazing feeling being inspired by a new open tuning and seeing where it takes you.
But here's where the problems started, I was using so many different tunings that I didn't really know my way around the guitar anymore. Everything I played was influenced by the tuning I was playing in and I felt frustrated.
I eventually discovered an amazing guitarist called Pierre Bensusan, Pierre explained that he went through the same problem and decided to play everything in just one tuning, DADGAD.
