Did you know that Newport, Rhode Island was the inspiration for Disney’s Yacht Club Resort? It’s true! When Disney Imagineers were putting the finishing touches on this nautical-themed resort hotel back in 1990, they sought to create a space that would celebrate the timeless elegance of New England and bring all the breezy nostalgia of a seaside summertime to life right here at Walt Disney World. Today, we’re docking our boat at the Yacht Club marina and enjoying a stroll around the beautiful grounds, pausing along the way to reminisce about a bygone Newport summertime, and taking a closer look at all of the wonderful details that tie these two marvelous places together.
