On May 18, 1969, Apollo 10 launched on an eight-day “dress rehearsal” ahead of the Apollo 11 Moon landing which would follow two months later. The three-man Apollo 10 crew comprised of Gene Cernan, John Young and Tom Stafford flew to the moon and back in their spacecraft nicknamed “Charlie Brown” and tested several flight parameters that would help ensure successful future trips to the lunar surface.
