Today’s video is extra special! I went to visit my mom (Nonna!) this week, and many of you in our community have asked if she could share some of her traditional Italian recipes. Well, she’s 87 years old, originally from Calabria, and she was more than happy to show us how she makes her famous frittelle di broccoli — crispy broccoli fritters that are simple, delicious, and full of love.
One thing you should know about Nonna: she never cooks with complicated ingredients or fancy gadgets. She believes the best food comes from just a few fresh, simple things — and she rarely measures. She goes by feel, by look, and by taste (and somehow, it always turns out perfect).
These fritters are golden and crispy on the outside, soft and full of flavor on the inside. Even if you’re not a broccoli fan, you might just change your mind after trying them.

🥦 Nonna’s Frittelle di Broccoli Recipe
Ingredients (approximate — Nonna style!):
1 large head fresh broccoli (cut into florets)
1 large egg
About 1 cup all-purpose flour (adjust as needed until batter is like pancake batter)
1/2 to 2/3 cup water
½ cup grated parmesan cheese
Salt & pepper, to taste
1/2 tsp baking soda
Oil, for frying
Instructions:
Boil broccoli florets in salted water for 1-2 minutes until just tender. Drain well.
In a bowl, whisk egg with salt and pepper. Add flour gradually to make a smooth batter (like pancake batter).
Stir in parmesan and lastly the baking soda. Fold in broccoli until evenly coated.
Heat oil in a pan. Drop spoonfuls of batter and fry until golden on both sides.
Drain on paper towels, sprinkle with extra cheese if you like, and enjoy hot!
