In this video, I'm going to walk you through the "Minimum Viable Product" (MVP) framework, which is a very simple framework that you can apply whenever you're trying to figure out if you should spend any money (and how much money).
Here are examples about self-publishing costs that come up all the time:
- do I need to buy my own ISBN or can I just use the free one from Amazon KDP/IngramSpark/another printer?
- how much should I spend on an editor?
- does my book need copyediting?
- how much should I pay an illustrator?
- how much does a good cover cost?
- is premium color worth it or can I get away with standard color?
- should I be offering more than a 30-35% discount to retailers?
- should I join a membership association for authors?
- do I need to pay for a website?
- how much does a website cost?
