🌍 How do countries build strong early warning systems and share that knowledge with others?
In Mozambique, experience from past disasters has helped shape a powerful national system for disaster risk reduction. Today, the country is turning that experience into action, supporting other nations across Africa.
At the heart of this effort is the National Institute for Disaster Management and Risk Reduction (INGD) and the National Emergency Operation Centre (CENOE) in Maputo. Together, they play a key role in the African Union’s Africa Multi-Hazard Early Warning and Early Action Situation Room, connecting countries and coordinating early warning systems across the continent.
🤝 Through initiatives supported by UNDRR, Italy, and the CIMA Research Foundation, Mozambique is both learning from and supporting others:
• A delegation visited Tanzania to exchange knowledge on resilience
• Experts from Ethiopia and South Sudan travelled to Maputo to learn from Mozambique’s systems
