A CPU can last about 10 years. But, if you take good care of your CPU, it can last much longer than that.
For example, some old computers that have processors from the 1980s are still able to turn on and run. Of course, they are not compatible with today's software and hardware.
Two such examples are the 1984 Macintosh and Commodore Amiga. Some of those models are able to turn on and run today.
For instance, a school board in the Grand Rapids School District used the Commodore Amiga to the run the air conditioning systems 19 schools in its disctrict from the 1980s until 2015 -- over 30 years!
The lesson is this: Take care of your CPU and it will take care of you!
