The Hubbard Marine Fish Hatchery has been "restocking" sea bass for over thirty years. It grows the fish in a facility in Carlsbad and eventually releases thousands each year into the ocean to help the overfished species. They hope to apply the knowledge they’ve gained through this process to local marine aquaculture. The technique could increase locally sourced and healthy fish while avoiding possible impacts on freshwater resources.
