In rounds two and three, Lewis began using the clinch as a tactical weapon. He stayed at long range when possible, parried Tyson’s jab, and used overhooks and collar ties whenever Tyson tried to charge into punching range. Every clinch stopped Tyson from putting combinations together.
Tyson’s head movement still kept him from taking clean uppercuts, and Lewis was not yet landing everything he wanted. But Lewis’ jab became busier and more disruptive, while Tyson had to work harder just to create the same attacking opportunities.
