Lenin, born into an upper-middle-class family, was radicalized by the deaths of his father and the execution of his brother, leading him to embrace Marxist ideology and rise as the leader of the Bolshevik faction. His leadership culminated in the 1917 October Revolution, establishing a communist state in Russia, and his ideas, known as Leninism, profoundly shaped global politics in the 20th century.
