Over the last five years, almost 200 journalists have been killed outside conflict zones - many targeted for investigating corruption, organised crime, and environmental destruction.
One of them was Fernando Villavicencio, an investigative journalist in Ecuador. He was murdered in 2023 after years of exposing corruption.
Now, his daughters carry on his dangerous work.
"We have to live with permanent protection of the police in Ecuador," says Tamia Villavicencio.
