He is the real main character, did everything, and is the reason everyone else found themselves. This game also made me realise FF7R is a sequel to CC. FF7R makes no sense as a remake of OG FF7. But it makes perfect sense as a sequel to CC
From the larger debate about FF7R - the Final Fantasy 7 "Remake" trilogy by Square Enix, which effectively rectons and rewrites the history around the original FFVII (1997) by Squaresoft. Instead of a real remake, it is a meta-narrative, bait-n-switch, deceptively titled, multiverse sequel / time travel spinoff (it could be one of those things, both, or neither. No one knows). It butchers characters, story, tone, music, and has absolutely brutal pacing. It adopts the tone of a Kingdom Hearts / Disney / Marvel game. Starring characters like Cloud, Tifa, Aeris, Barret, Cid, Vincet, Yuffie, Sephiroth - and riveting new characters like Leslie and Chadley. All of this could be fine, if it wasn't called "Remake". But it is. And for that reason, it competes for that title with the OG. It even risks replacing it. I don't appreciate the gaslighting, dishonesty and bullying from many of its fans, which is why I make the videos I make.
