Kyoto really is peaceful — in every sense.
In this episode, we visited Kiyomizu-dera, where I met a traveler from Singapore sketching the temple in one continuous line — his art was fascinating. I also met another traveler from the U.S., and we bonded over our cameras.
I realized something during these moments — while locals are often quiet and reserved, tourists here love to connect. It’s these small conversations that make travel feel human.
Later, we went to the Imperial Palace (it was closed because of a festival, but the surroundings were calm and beautiful), and then to the Philosopher’s Path, finally catching it with a little light this time. We ended the day with an ice cream — a peaceful close to our Kyoto journey. 🍦
