Bill Schlegel | How is Jesus Equal with God? (John 5:18) @billschlegel1 | Uploaded May 2019 | Updated October 2024, 1 hour ago.
When Jesus called God his Father, he was not making a claim to deity (an equality of essence). Rather, Jesus' equality with God should be understood in the Jewish and biblical context of an equality of representative authority, encapsulated in the Hebraic proverb "The one sent is EQUAL to his sender." This lecture examining John chapter 5 was given at the Theological Conference sponsored by Restoration Fellowship in April 2019.
