Like many kids growing up in the 90s, I spent way too many quarters on beat-em-ups like *Vendetta*. I’ve always dreamed of recreating these characters in a modern engine, but manual modeling was always one of the big bottlenecks.
In this video, I’m testing a new workflow using **Rodin AI** to turn 2D pixel art into high-fidelity 3D models. It’s NOT a "one-click" magic workflow. Not yet. There are still manual tweaks and cleanup involved in Blender. But it allowed me to create game-ready assets in about 2~4 hours for roughly $5 per character.
Every step of the process is covered in the video.
As a 3D artist, I don't see this as a replacement for manual craft, but as a massive accelerator for pre-production, prototyping, and passion projects that would otherwise never happen.
*In this video, we cover:*
- Converting a base concept art to 3D Modeling sheets
- Reliably generating high-poly and low-poly meshes with *Rodin AI*
- Cleanup, optimization and rigging in *Blender*
- Importing and testing the characters in *Unreal Engine 5* .
