Lately I've been thinking a lot about what I used to do to become more familiar with the early domino community, and how that in turn actually helped grow my channel. So I wanted to share my thoughts with the community.

When I was first starting on YouTube, I watched just about every domino video in existence, and would often leave nice, constructive comments. I realized that this was actually a very effective way of getting my name out there and letting the rest of the early domino community know who I am. I learned a lot about building, and other builders around the world just from posting and responding to YouTube comments. Even now, I still believe that an effective way to grow your channel (especially when you are first starting out) is to be active in the community and leave thoughtful, supportive comments on people's videos. You'll be surprised how much more effective this is than spamming "check out my channel pls!!!"

On that note, recently, I've noticed a lot of comments along the lines of "please notice me!!!" and "subscribe to my channel!!!" Particularly on Domino Deep Dive videos, I see many comments asking to be featured. It's unfortunate to see this because firstly, it doesn't help your chances of getting featured, but more importantly, it goes against the purpose of the videos. Domino Deep Dive is intended to be a place where we can all suggest ideas and contribute our thoughts, not a place to compete for attention. So I'm considering changing the format of the show to try to improve some of the things I don't think are working. If you have any suggestions for improvements, I'd love to hear them!
