After leaving a high control group (or a cult) I gradually felt better and better. I got stonger and stronger and decided to have 100% control of my life.
My Jehovah Witness family and «friends» were all frequent drinkers. And I noticed that the more people work for Watchtower, the more they drink in the evening. This is obviously a generalisation. But at the russian bethel i noticed and participated in heavy drinking. It was always kept hidden. We did it in the evening in our rooms, and we went back to work the next day.
But there was a lot of drunkeness at bethel. We all knew about it, we joked about it, but we kept it a secret from outsiders.
The 12th of august 2020 when I realised that drinking is one of the control mechanisms of watchtower, I quit drinking. Hard Stop.
I will NEVER treat anyone the way my family treated me. I do not want to end up like my family members and I do not want to bring the toxic Jehovah Witness culture to the next generation.
