I've been itching for the spring flowers to bloom and the woodlands to be alive with birdsong, so I thought I'd make a quick video talking about how I prepare for spring woodland photography. Looking back at some of last year's scouting work, I remind myself of the compositions I'd like to work on, and use some mapping tools to help plan this year's work. I've always been an advocate of this long-term view of creating meaningful photographs of my local woodlands, but being fluid and instinctive always plays an important role too.
