Back in 2016, I used to have a big issue with fluctuating ping times while playing Team Fortress 2. This is commonly known as BufferBloat, and it's actually possible to fix by utilizing Quality of Service (QoS) and FQ_CODEL. Since my router, the Netgear WNDR4300, did not have that capability, I installed DD-WRT on it and kissed all of my problems goodbye. Here's how I did it!
