I started art journaling my Bible a few years ago. Here's a walk through of it as well as the art supplies I generally have with me at church or in my purse (at all times).
Some of my favorites:
Inktense watercolor pencils
Peerless Watercolors
Prismacolor Pencils
Crayons Twistables
Washi tape
Whiteout pen
Acrylic paint and an old credit card to scrape the paint thinly across the page
Gesso to thicken a page
Scrapbook paper, church bulletins, old magazine pictures or index prints from photos
Watercolor paint (pretty inexpensive-about $5-7, not crayola)
