In this video, I wanted to share my personal experience with homeschooling on a deeper level. I grew up in the rural mountains of Vermont, where my freethinking parents homeschooled my sister and me. I truly believe that I wouldn't be who I am today, creating what I create and walking this path, had I not been homeschooled. This organic educational route not only nourished and taught me but also enabled me to forge an incredible and lasting bond with the human beings who brought me into this world. I don't call myself an author because I don’t believe in labels.
I believe that story is art - that it's sacred, and that it is and has always been a force that changes and shapes our world. That's why I write, and that's why I create videos (even co-produced an environmental film). I consider the world my home, and enjoy submerging in unique cultures nearly as much as I love submerging in the ocean and riding the waves. I am the author of the young adult urban fantasy series The Blood Race, and am currently working on several new series's.
