I may have made a similar video with a similar title in the past, but I can't remember.. Anyway, I thought my camera was very close to the water when I shot this near the end of observation #10, but when I looked at the footage later I realized I must have been much, much higher than I thought!

$In-Ferry-Or Mirage Day 9 - As Predicted Inferior mirages dont seem to care much about the water temperature. I predicted that on this warmest day of spring so far, we would see inferior mirage until slightly after peak daytime temperature is reached. Its not that hard, and Ive been doing this long enough to see the patterns. Its been about the same conditions 8 times in a row and most days I get there too early and dont stay long enough for the transition. This time we had an early breakup of the mirage (mostly) on the ferry side of the lake while still strong mirage (getting significantly weaker) looking towards the other side of the lake. Most of my cameras died before the full transition to afternoon super looming, but I got some decent time lapse of the 18.5 KM point too. Next project involving these will be a swanalysis (flat vs. globe geometry/refraction comparison) from the start and end of every mirage day time lapse so far! This is going to be an involved project but I think it will be useful to show how strong inferior mirage conditions match globe geometry pretty well, at least from low elevations and over short distances.$
