How heavy, or how light, should a motorcycle be if you plan to ride it on a long adventure trip? In this video, I will answer this question, I will also tell you how to find the best model for you.
The weight always matters, regardless of what you think about it. The sooner you understand this, the better! Does it mean that the lighter the bike is, the easier it is going to be for you?
Well...not always! There are many other factors that will play a key role in this equation. How heavy are you, how much experience do you have, and what is the terrain that you plan to ride?
Because many will say that I contradict myself, I have to explain with a bit more detail what exactly I mean:
The title of the video was "The Optimal, Not the Minimum, Weight for Long-Distance Adventure Travel." This means that you will cover thousands of miles, some of which may even be on highways.
On the other hand, if you plan more than 90% of the time, hard off-road tracks, you definitely should go as light as possible. Sounds logical, right? Absolutely, but where is the catch?
I said a long adventure trip, not a few hours off-road fun. These are completely different activities.
Have you ever ridden a dirt or very light enduro bike? If not, go and try it. Riding it for a day, a few hours, or even a few minutes will be more than enough to understand what exactly I mean.
