At 88, Anette McRay faced fading vision from age-related macular degeneration and endured constant eye injections to slow her vision loss. But after she joined an experimental gene therapy trial at Vanderbilt Eye Institute, her sight, as well as her independence, is being preserved, offering hope for millions facing the same devastating disease.
