📍 Gary Cooper, The American Hero

He was a born Westerner: tall, dark-haired, handsome, a soft-spoken heartthrob, he could be both reserved and powerful on screen. Gary Cooper was born Frank James Cooper on 7 May 1901 in Montana. At the behest of his wealthy father, he studied agriculture while drawing political cartoons for newspapers. At the age of 23, he was about to enter art school when he learned from his cowboy friends in Montana that being a film extra was a low-effort, but highly lucrative, profession.
