Everyone knows FF7 Rebirth ruined the tone of the original game. But this Gold Saucer scene takes the cake. Here we look at how Dio was portrayed in the real Final Fantasy 7 (1997) by Squaresoft (voiced by Macho Man Randy Savage). It's the part where Cloud has to do battle in the Colisseum to win the Key to the Temple of the Ancients. We break down the elements of that scene, and why they work. Then we look at the fake remake FF7R (by Square Enix), and look at how every single element is wrong and doesn't work. Storytelling, pacing, music, writing, acting - it's all several steps down. Special guest appearance from DJ Corneo, Kotch, Scotch, and some appallingly bad rap. FF7 used to be cool. Now it's just another cringe "Hello, fellow kids" meme.
