How do you actually break into motorsports — and once you’re in, how do you stay there?

In this episode, Racing Prodigy CEO David Cook sits down with Prodigy Racing League driver Alexandro Vielma to talk through the realities of building a racing career. From choosing the right racing path and securing early opportunities, to funding challenges, testing opportunities, and learning how relationships shape long-term success, this conversation breaks down what aspiring drivers often don’t see behind the scenes.

Alexandro shares his personal journey into racing — starting later than most, navigating the financial realities of the sport, and using every opportunity, from shootouts to testing days to sim racing, as a stepping stone toward professional competition.

This episode covers:
• How drivers decide between sports cars, open wheel, and other racing paths
• Why having a long-term plan matters before spending money in motorsport
• The reality of funding and grassroots racing opportunities
• How testing, relationships, and communication open doors
• Why sim racing has become a critical tool for modern driver development

Whether you’re an aspiring driver, a sim racer looking to transition into real-world competition, or a motorsport fan interested in how careers are actually built, this conversation offers an honest look at the journey.
