In this video, we debunk the belief that domain models should serialize themselves. We will explore why a domain model cannot handle its own serialization but has to rely on some other class to do that.
Delve into the proper way to manage serialization in C# in an example minimal API application. You will learn how the best place to define serialization is the code that consumes the model - an endpoint in the example of a Web application. Not only does the caller specify the JSON output, but there can be many different JSON formats for the same domain object when used in different callers.
By the end of this video, you will understand the importance of separating serialization logic from domain models and how to implement this strategy effectively using strong types in C#.
