In this video, I explain how a contactor works in a very simple and easy to follow way.
A contactor is a switch that we use to turn on and off big electrical equipment like a large motor.
But unlike a simple light switch at home, you cannot just walk up and press it.
The level of electricity running through it is too dangerous to touch directly.
So instead, we control it from a safe distance using a small coil inside the contactor.
When we send a small 24-volt power to the coil, it turns into a magnet.
That magnet pulls the contacts in and closes the circuit.
Motor turns on.
When we cut that power, the magnet goes away, the contacts open, and the motor stops.
Simple as that.
