How do you form the bow of a ship?
➡️ Pour a 3.9 tonne stem from molten steel
➡️ Lift it precisely into position onto the ship’s front unit
➡️ Pre-heat to 200°C to protect the steel’s integrity during welding
➡️ Weld continuously for 24 hours / 10 days nonstop
The stem forms the critical structure that brings both sides of the hull together to create the ship’s sharp, forward spine which cuts a path through the water.
