Thanks to public donations and key partnerships, we have been able to turn this once hostile environment into a haven for female green turtles to nest each year.
The Raine Island Recovery Project has already reported a 100% increase in hatchling rates as science and technology combine on the Great Barrier Reef.
The Foundation’s five-year, $7.95 million Raine Island Recovery Project is a partnership with BHP, the Queensland Government, the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority, and the Wuthathi and Meriam Nation (Ugar, Mer, Erub) Traditional Owners the Great Barrier Reef Foundation.
