We’re using capabilities from across Balfour Beatty to help construct the 400kV Littlebrook substation, facilitating the flow of 2 GW of renewable and low-carbon energy, enough to power 1.5 million homes in Southeast England.
The new facility uses the next generation of cleaner gas technology ‘G3’. By replacing 1kg of sulphur hexafluoride (SF6), a traditional electrical insulator, with 1kg of g3 significantly reduces carbon emissions, and will support the UK’s move towards a net zero future.
